Persian carpets on display at ongoing Tehran expo

 

 

 

An exclusive handmade Persian carpet exhibition that aims to familiarise people with the ancient Persian art of carpet weaving is currently going on in Tehran, the capital city of Iran.
 
Nearly forty carpet weavers from Kashan, East Azerbaijan, Kerman, Fars, Isfahan and Qom provinces are showcasing their creations, which include Iranian carpets, luxury tableau and nomad rugs, at the expo.
 
Being the world’s largest producer and exporter of handmade carpets, Iran boasts of more than 1.2 million weavers who weave around three quarters of the world’s total carpet production every year.
 
According to the current Iranian calendar year, the export volume of carpets is expected to reach nearly US$ 600 million.
 
Iran exports carpets to over 100 countries, including the UAE, Germany, Japan, Lebanon and Qatar.
